May 29, 2011

My big girl made her First Communion today.
She was a pretty little vision in white.
During mass, they allowed us to take a couple pictures as she received communion for the first time.
Fr. Cronin introduced them to the congregation and everyone applauded.
They made it as special as they could for the three kids receiving this precious sacrament.
After mass we rushed to take some pictures with the family because
I knew the dress would be off the minute we walked in the door.
My girl can only take so much "girliness," for so long.
We had to move quickly.
Fr. Cronin presided over mass.

I believe this is the best family shot we could muster.  The baby was not up to the photo op.

Her Godparents: strong examples of faith and love.

Her Tita--spent much of Lene's first year together and has always showered her with love and prayer.
Back at the house we had dinner together and enjoyed the special reason to celebrate.
Our family loves a reason to get together.
Good food is a plus too.
"He was funny at my first communion," Lene said.
Clowning Around

Proud Papa with his first great-grandchild.

This girl has waited so long for this day.
She has hungered for Christ since she was about three.
Every year she asks, how much longer?
Today was a big day for her.
She was able to bring up the gifts.  She carried the wine.
"It was heavy!"
She was able to receive the eucharist and even ventured to taste the wine.
"It ruined my tastebuds!"
The days ahead are big for her too.
She can now receive the eucharist whenever she wants;
She will help lead the way for her brother and sister.
My prayer for her?
May she always keep her ears open to hear His voice and stay on the path He leads her.
I pray that her love of the Lord ignites His love in others.
May she always hunger and thirst for His word
and be a shining light to all those she meets.
