Happy 2012!!!
After being in bed the last thirty-six hours with the flu, I woke to 2012 feeling refreshed and part of the human race again!
After much prayer, thought, and deliberation I've decided my word for the year is go.
As strange as it seems, I feel like it has been placed on my mind and heart.
So much so in fact, that I tried to find scripture where the word was embedded that could have some significance to me.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations."Matthew 28:19
"Train up a child in the way he should go and even when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov 22:6
"But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture." Malachi 4:2
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deut. 31:8
Gen 12:1-2
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me (Go)to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, Isiash 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me (Go)to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, Isiash 61:1
And maybe it's the simple voice I heard for years, Father PD at the end of mass who said in his great, booming, Irish accented voice:
"Go forth to love and serve the Lord. . . "
The word remains. Go. . .
Where Lord?
Why Lord?
When Lord?
How?
I don't have any of those answers yet, but I am confident that with the new year will come new opportunities to follow His request to Go.
It may look different than what I am used to.
It may mean giving up a contract at a job I've enjoyed for years.
It may mean saying no to outside activities that take away from our family time.
It may mean with my husband's apprenticeship ending...picking up and going where he needs to be.
So many wonderful possibilities this new year holds...
My wish is that you are abundantly blessed with His goodness--
What is your word this year?
Don't have one yet?
I encourage you to choose one!
Go on. Go to God.--J.F.
I like your word. I don't have a word so much as some very specific goals to focus on. Perhaps that should be my word "focus".
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling better Janene!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! GO get em...
:)
Go is a great word! I'm sharing people's posts about their word for the year and will include yours now. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHadn't really given any thought to a single word for the new year, but after reading your post last night I thought about it, slept on it and came up with a word this morning. My word is "GRATITUDE."
ReplyDeleteWhat better way to live this new year than being thankful and appreciative! Some researchers even suggest that focusing on "GRATITUDE" can increase happiness! And that has always been my aim, simply to be happy.
"This is the day(everyday) that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)
In every way and everywhere we accept this with all gratitude."(Acts 24:3)
Love you,
Dad
I need a word for 2012, but my brain is so scattered right now I can't narrow it down ;) BUT, it's going to be an exciting year for you my Friend! And I really wish I had the courage to walk away from my job... I admire your strength.
