I'm back from my little blogging break.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Ours came and went. . .
working until the 23rd really made it impossible to sit back and enjoy Christmas Eve Day.
I didn't even do any baking. Neighbors received cuties instead:
I don't think they minded. . .but still! I always bake at Christmas. Sigh.
My favorite part of the holiday?
Heading to church.
We went to the Christmas Eve Children's mass since our oldest was in the choir.
It was an awesome celebration and neat to see so many familiar faces in the pews with their loved ones. I probably felt the most peace when I was there.
After church, the eve didn't go as planned.
We headed to a family members house we haven't talked to in over a year.
While it went "okay," it wasn't where I wanted to be.
I also was left with that nagging feeling of hating how we "pretend" things never happened...no acknowledgement, no apology. Nothing.
To be completely truthful that is how most of this holiday felt, that's why I had no problem getting up early yesterday and making it all disappear.
This isn't a year for my memory book. . .
The kids realize the significance of what this season is about, so that gives me comfort--
but the actual holiday this year?
Um. . .moving on.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
The End.
