I love surprise visits by the young man on the right. I love the excitement the kids exhibit as their big brother walks through the door. I love to listen as these two men talk of their work day. Work. Full time, physical labor is what fills this young man's day currently. He has grown a lot since his first days of summer and being on the job. He has purpose, drive, ambition, and he is motivated by the paychecks that are coming his way. As much as I would love to tout the importance of college, I realize it is not for everyone. So instead, we choose to encourage his strengths and help guide in the direction of those activities that will help him to develop those strong areas. He is great with his hands--enjoys stage construction and theater lighting stuff.
It cracked me up to listen to these two as I cooked a quick Trader Joe's dinner to serve. They are such guys; talking of guy work things like a class C license and driving a big truck. Ernie wanted to be sure Little understood, so he even grabbed Bubba's RV model and acted out whatever he was trying to explain about backing up.
Dinner together is a rare but wonderful treat. Little fits right in with the crazy, beautiful chaos that is our life. Someday they will all be adults sitting around our table. Someday not too far off...enjoying the moments; in all their messy beauty!
P.S. The kitchen doesn't look like this anymore. . .soon the reveal.
